The Commercial

Commercial Pic 1Some of you might have found this website through a commercial I did for Southeastern University. In the commercial I was Kirstin Henderson (not my name) and my business was called, “Total Wellness by Kirstin” (not my business). Regardless, the commercial portrayed my business as well as my future goals.

For both my undergrad and Master’s degree I attended Southeastern University in good ol’ Lakeland, Florida. I was one of those nerds that loved school- everyone who knows me would be confirming this like crazy right about now. So, after I graduated I kept in touch with some fellow students, faculty, and staff.

Well in one way or another, word got out about the business I was starting and it made its way to the marketing department of SEU. They liked my story and wanted to feature it on their very first television commercial- cool right?

Commercial Pic 2 To say that I was humbled would be a huge understatement. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but as I continued to communicate with the heads of the project, I began to realize how legit it was going to be- no pressure right? This girl (me) has never done any acting in her life :/ So after a couple of meetings, a million outfit changes, and ten thousands hair run-throughs, we were set.

We started very early each morning to get the correct lighting and to make sure it was not too hot. I live in Florida, and 90% of the year it is over 90°, except for when it is not. During the shoot it was about 30° each morning and most of the time I was barefoot and in yoga pants (Party? – yes, it still was!). At one point we had to stop shooting because the lower part of my face turned blue and as it turns out, it was not the look they were going for- true fact. Commercial Pic 3

The production crew, Indie Atlantic Films, was phenomenal! They were so patient with me and literally did everything they could to make me look good. Candace Gross produced her booty off and made each scene look flawless (shout out to Candace! I know you are going to be famous ;)) I should also add Lindsay Lane did my hair and makeup like a boss- I mean those braids, right?!

Overall, I left the shoot feeling like family with these peeps and I was so sad to see it end. It was such an amazing experience and I am still so honored. The commercial is below if you want to have a looksies. Look for it on TV, and let me know what you think!

Oh! And head on over to Southeastern University to apply for all of your online degrees!
